What can I do? โ€ฆ Trust the process.

The photo below shows one of the flashcards that visitors can fill out at The Zekelman Holocaust Center offering ideas on how to prevent genocide. I came across this card just a few days before my family and I had to leave the U.S.- and its message has stayed with me ever since.

Due to my husbandโ€™s job transition, we had to leave the U.S. at the end of July for an indefinite period. We had been living there as an expat family: our children went to school, and I had just begun building my career as a culture consultant and museum educator. We had plans for the summer and were looking forward to a return. But now, instead of going back to their school and friends, our children are preparing to start school in Germany.

And me? Iโ€™m still processing. Sad. Disappointed. And yet- Iโ€™m choosing to trust the process.

Because what else can we do in moments like this?

We feel it.
We live it.
We grow from it.
And we share it โ€ฆ

โ€ฆ because transitions like this are deeply human and deserve space in our professional lives too.
